I’ve had some really annoying experiences with Sunrise, and recommend everyone to stay away from that company.

A bit over two years ago I made the mistake to renewe my contract with them for cable internet and phone service. A bit more than one year ago I gained access to fiber, and decided to switch to Init7, which offers far superior service (static /48 subnet, semi-static public IPv4 address, competent support, free choice of router, fast speed, reasonable contracts, no bundle hell) for a lower price. So far so good.

Unfortunately, I still had over a year on my contract left. Despite that I cancelled my sunrise subscription and had to pay for an other year of subscription. I received three cancellation e-mails, and thought everything was fine after that. I managed to move my phone number away to an independent SIP provider, which is also better and cheaper than Sunrise, and also allowed me to use any SIP phone and not just the crappy sunrise router box.

Now, 14 months later, I still receive bills, for an even higher price. Phone support told me my subscription was not cancelled after all. And while my contract duration has ended, there’s an other cancellation restriction of two months, so I have to continue to pay even more. I was assured that my cancellation worked this time, for sure…

That company is a huge scam. Again, STAY AWAY FROM SUNRISE.
